Applied Improv for Engagement, Connection, and Expression

Presentation Description: Dan Montour (Intercultural Learning Program Specialist-OIA,) will be sharing his experience of using Applied Improvisation to better improve classroom engagement/participation, interpersonal skills for global engagement, and presentation skills. We will also discuss the interpersonal challenges and opportunities facing students in an increasingly isolated and virtual landscape. Finally, Dan will teach 3-4 Improv warm-ups you can use in your class or workshop. Participation expected.

Learning Objectives:

  • learn and then lead 3-4 Applied Improv Warm-Ups to be used in the classroom or group setting.
  • understand the importance of public speaking and interpersonal skills and how they pertain to undergraduates and international students.
  • better facilitate classroom discussions and encourage student participation.
